Christmas Music Countdown: Day 2 Nat King Cole

Today's album: The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. (Yes, this is the album title, too)

If you don't have this recording on your shelf, order it today! An indispensable collection of holiday tunes performed by one of America's great talents, the album also includes a couple of short spoken interludes that will warm your heart.

In addition to the much-loved title cut, Nat sings O Tannenbaum (in German as well as English); God Rest Ye Merry; Caroling, Caroling; I Saw Three Ships; O Little Town of Bethlehem; O Holy NIght, and other great tunes in that beautiful, distinctive voice of his. My favorite is the all-too-rarely-heard Cradle In Bethlehem, which is worth the purchase price on its own. The recording is also distinguished by nice orchestration and backup where appropriate.

Go listen to Cradle in Bethlehem on YouTube!
